- Densifier FAQS
All Crete Densifier is a water based blend of 100% active sodium silicate and siliconate polymers that penetrate the surface
to increase density, hardness, and strength of the concrete. Those properties reduce dusting, tire marks, and maintenance
on the surface. All Crete Densifier penetrates deeply into the surface filling the pores and capillaries of the concrete and
reacting with the free Time and calcium carbonate therefore yielding a protected, hardened, and dense floor.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
Concrete surface must be clean and free of all contaminants and water. Do not apply if rain is forecast within 24 hours. If moisture is present or if the surface is not clean and free of all contaminants, the sealer may have white spots and have premature delamination and failure. For cure & seal applications, this product may be applied when damp (not “wet”) to freshly placed concrete surfaces. Horizontal surfaces must be finished and show no “sheen” from bleed water. Substrate and air temperature must be no less than 40° F and not exceed 80° F. If applied outside these limits the sealer may not achieve adequate film formation and may have excessive air entrapment, bubbles, blushing or hazing. Note that in direct sunlight, substrate temperature can exceed 150° F which can cause extreme bubbling issues.
APPLICATION:
New (Uncured) Concrete: It is not traditionally recommended to apply All-Crete to concrete earlier than 28 days. If this application is necessary, ensure the removal of all soft cut saw debris prior to application. Apply at a rate of 200-300 sq. ft. per gallon using an industrial grade sprayer with a 0.5 gal./min. fan tip, lint free mop, or soft bristle push broom. Ensure floor saturation, removing any puddle areas with a soft bristle push broom or mop. Apply more All-Crete to areas that appear to be more porous and are absorbing the material more. After saturating the floor, mist water on the surface and squeegee the fluid to the next area to be coated or remove with wet-vac. If excess densifier is allowed to dry on the concrete surface, a white residue may form and can only be removed by mechanical means such as sanding or grinding process. Do Not Thin!
Existing Concrete:
Apply at a rate of 200-300 sq. ft. per gallon using an industrial grade sprayer with a 0.5 gal./min, fan tip, lint free mop, or soft bristle push broom. Ensure floor saturation for 30-60 minutes, removing any puddle areas with a soft bristle push broom. Apply more densifier to areas that appear to be more porous and are absorbing the material more. Rework any excess material with a soft bristle broom. After saturating the floor, mist water on the surface and squeegee the fluid to the next area to be coated or remove with wet-vac. If excess densifier is allowed to dry on the concrete surface, a white residue may form and can only be removed by mechanical means such as sanding or grinding process.
Polished Concrete:
After completing the 400 grit stage of polishing, apply a saturating, uniform coat of densifier at a rate of 200-300 sq. ft. per gallon using an industrial grade sprayer with a 0.5 gal./min. fan tip. lint free mop, or soft bristle push broom, ensuring floor saturation for 30-60 minutes. Do not allow to puddle. If excess densifier is allowed to dry on the concrete surface, a white residue may form and can only be removed by mechanical means such as sanding or grinding process. Follow through with additional polishing steps until desired appearance is achieved. Additional applications of densifier can be added at any stage before the final polishing phase is done if necessary at a rate of 200-300 sq. ft. per gallon. Remove any excess residue with polishing diamonds or polishing pads. Flushing with water is not necessary. Note: For softer concrete an initial application of densifier can be applied after the 80 grit stage prior to the standard polishing steps to achieve a harder surface.
PLEASE NOTE:
It is always recommended to test the product in a small, inconspicuous area (on the same concrete substrate) for desired results prior to application. Coverage rates may vary for all liquids/coatings and substrates depending on porosity, density, texture etc. If applying by spray method, extended coverage rates may be.
Question: Should you let your floor completely dry before applying a densifier?
Answer: Yes, it needs to be dry on the surface. Most importantly, you need to make sure the floor is clean of all residue or streaks.
Question: Do you have to put two coats of All crete densifier?
Answer: No, we only recommend one coat of densifier at 200-300 sqft per gallon. You will use a sprayer and a microfiber mop typically after 200 or 400 grit. There are cases you would apply 2 coats of densifier if the floor is “soft.”
Question: Can you use All Crete Densifier on an exterior floor?
Answer: Yes, All Crete Densifier works well for exterior use. Popular on driveways with soft concrete. For a more appropriate protection for exterior look at our “Sustain” product.
Question: Why do you need a densifier?
Answer: Densifier will penetrate the concrete to increase the density, hardness, and strengthen the concrete. Our densifier will also bead water. A lot of other densifiers will not bead water.
